Kate is one the founders of Binneford Consulting. She spent 22 years at the British Council, latterly concentrating on management development programmes for the Council around the world. After completing her MA in Management Development at Lancaster in 1998 she worked as an independent consultant, specialising in personal and organisational development work with senior teams and individuals. In particular she designs and delivers tailor-made programmes on influencing, strategic management and corporate change issues, where her skills as a facilitator are highly regarded.
Kate is an executive coach with many years experience of working on a one-to-one basis with talented directors, managers and high flyers. She is part of the coach training team at Management Futures Ltd, one of the UK’s leading coaching organisations. Her coaching and management development clients come from both the public and private sector and she has worked on multinational projects in Africa, Europe and the Far East, as well as the UK.
After 20 years in the advertising industry with clients such as Heinz, Cadbury's, BT and AXA, James joined Ernst & Young where he initiated and developed their ground breaking arts sponsorship as part of his wider role as External Communications Director. He moved to Nabarro Nathanson as Director of Marketing in 1997, establishing a department to drive the firm's industry sector strategy and working closely with partners to develop and focus their marketing activities.
He left to establish his own consultancy in July 2000, specialising in client relationship management and business development and subsequently set up Binneford Consulting with his wife, Kate. An experienced executive coach, he now specialises in advising organisations on business and personal development issues, particularly in the professional services sector.
James has spoken on marketing and business issues in the USA, South Africa and Europe, as well as in the UK. He won an IPA Advertising Effectiveness award as leader of the team advertising the flotation of British Telecom and two ABSA awards for his work with Ernst & Young and the Tate Gallery.
Peter spent 10 years in industry with major plc’s including Beecham Pharmaceuticals and Unigate Foods. His work involved international marketing, NPD and M&A.
For the last 14 years he has specialised in training senior managers and professional services partners, improving their confidence and skills in managing client and staff relationships, winning new business and using negotiation skills to improve profitability.
Formerly head of business development and client service training for Ernst & Young UK, Peter is an experienced independent consultant. His clients have included top 20 UK and US law firms and European Big 4 accounting and consulting practices, with programmes delivered for their offices around the world.
Peter holds an Honours degree in Pharmacology with Biochemistry (Glasgow) as well as a post-graduate diploma in Business Administration (Edinburgh) and a Masters degree in Organisational Behaviour (London).
Victoria hails from Plymouth and returned to live and work in the city in 2001. She’s no stranger to the world of partnerships and the law, having been a key member of the marketing team at Nabarro Nathanson in London for nearly five years, working with partners across various parts of the practice.
As well as demonstrating exceptional skills in organising and managing marketing activities and events, Victoria has a talent for bringing a highly creative approach when working with local media, looking to build relationships with journalists and finding angles to make stories attractive to them.
Ken spent eight years in the world of sales and marketing before realizing what he really wanted to do – become an actor. He graduated from the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art and immediately took his first steps on the ladder that led him to become a familiar face on stage and television. And his voice will be familiar to radio listeners far and wide.
In a career spanning over 20 years, his UK stage appearances have been many and varied, working in theatres from Darlington to Brighton and most places in between. He spent time with a touring company that worked on cruise liners all around the world and also took the opportunity to play Frank Dole in 84 Charing Cross Road in a production in Oklahoma, USA. Last year he appeared in one of the lead roles in Top Dogs, a play set in the corporate world at the Southwark Playhouse where the actors play their parts under their own names.
In the 90s Ken began to work with groups and individuals in the business world to develop their communication and face-to-face skills. He uses his acting craft to help people understand that they need be comfortable playing different roles for different situations in their business lives and he has designed and delivered courses and workshops in presentation, public speaking, image, voice and body language. For many people the use of drama and forum theatre techniques throws new light on ways to explore issues and assist personal development. A trained executive coach, Ken offers a complete package of voice and body language training in a dynamic style, described by one of his clients as an enjoyable mixture of challenge and support.
Ken works in both the public and private sectors. His recent clients include organisations in the healthcare industry, the media, professional and financial services, and the top five management consultancies.
Andrew focuses on leadership and change consultancy, working with boards and other top teams and developing groups of senior managers.
Innovation lies at the heart of Andrew's approach. He draws on a wide range of skills and tools to meet the particular requirements of each assignment, Including the use of appropriate psychometrics, 360 degree feedback, rehearsing scenarios, stimulating case studies, up-to-date research, theory and concepts, reading materials, follow-up sessions, and relevant examples drawn from other spheres of activity.
Andrew believes passionately in the importance of understanding the context in which an individual or team is operating, and how this relates to the wider organizational and external environment. What makes someone successful in one setting doesn't guarantee their effectiveness in another, something that is often not given the attention it merits.
Previously Director of Consultancy and Bespoke Services at Roffey Park Institute, one of the UK's leading management education and development centres, Andrew’s sector experience includes financial services, telecoms and the construction industry as well as a variety of public sector bodies. He has contributed chapters to the Financial Times Handbook of Management and the Gower Handbook of Management Skills and has published many articles. He is a regular contributor to The Guardian's weekly column, If I were boss, and has also spoken frequently at high-profile, international conferences.
